What skills and experience we're looking for

We are looking for a skilled and strategically-minded professional to join us as our College Business Manager. This vital role is fundamental to the smooth running of our College, ensuring that our financial and physical resources are managed effectively to support student success. This is a rewarding opportunity to work with a dedicated staff team where your expertise in business operations will make a tangible, often transformative, difference to our young people’s lives.

As the Business Manager, you will lead the strategic direction and operational management of Finance, Estates, IT Services, and Facilities across the College. Working closely with the Principal, you will provide essential guidance on budget planning, ensure compliance with financial regulations, and oversee our College infrastructure. You will be responsible for providing a safe, secure, and well-resourced environment, ensuring that the College’s operational foundation remains robust and efficient.

We are seeking a leader who is experienced in financial management and the operational elements of a significant organisation. You will have a proven track record in financial planning, procurement, and team leadership. While school experience is advantageous, we value professionals from any sector who are passionate about education, welcome feedback, and maintain a positive, upbeat approach to complex challenges.

What the school offers its staff

Joining Uckfield College means becoming part of a vibrant, dedicated, and skilled team committed to achieving real excellence for our students. We build a supportive environment for our staff and offer a wealth of benefits, including an enhanced pension scheme, extensive professional learning and development opportunities, and free on-site parking. Our commitment to staff well-being is reflected in initiatives such as staff breakfasts, free sports activities, and engaging social events. This is a fantastic chance to contribute to a dynamic staff team and make a tangible difference in students' educational journeys.

Commitment to safeguarding

We are committed to the safeguarding of children. References and Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service checks will be conducted on successful applicants. Please note all roles are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the amendments to the Exceptions Order 1975, 2013 and 2020.
