We are currently recruiting enthusiastic and compassionate Childcare Learning Workers to support children and young people with Additional Learning Needs (ALN) across a range of specialist and mainstream education settings in the Neath and Swansea areas.
This role involves working within well‑established provisions for pupils with social, emotional and behavioural needs, developmental delays, autism spectrum conditions, speech and language needs, challenging behaviours, and complex learning difficulties. You may be placed in settings similar to large specialist provisions for secondary‑aged pupils as well as primary centres dedicated to early development and intensive support.
- Supporting pupils aged approximately 3-16 years in an education environment.
- Helping learners access the curriculum, develop independence, and engage positively with others.
- Implementing individual education and behaviour plans under the direction of classroom leads.
- Providing emotional regulation support and using de‑escalation techniques where appropriate.
- Encouraging communication, participation, and progress through nurturing, consistent interactions.
- Working collaboratively with teachers, ALNCo staff, therapists, and other support professionals.
- Experience supporting children or young people (school, childcare, residential, youth work, or similar).
- Understanding of Additional Learning Needs or willingness to undertake training.
- A full UK driving licence and access to a car (travel between multiple sites may be required).
- Resilience, patience, professionalism, and a genuine passion for helping pupils thrive.
- Ability to follow safeguarding procedures and maintain confidential, high‑quality practice.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
