Leading civils and groundworks company is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to work a variety of projects throughout the UK. Projects include : earthworks, excavation, drainage, 278 works, groundworks.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our clients growing team. Our office is based in Derby and we have projects in various locations across the East Midlands This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is detail-oriented, commercially aware, and skilled at delivering cost-effective solutions across a range of projects.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction cost management and be confident in supporting projects from inception through to completion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare cost estimates, budgets, and bills of quantities
  • Manage project costs and track financial performance throughout project lifecycles
  • Conduct tender analysis and prepare tender documentation
  • Assess subcontractor quotations and manage procurement processes
  • Prepare interim valuations, final accounts, and variations
  • Liaise with project managers, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure accurate cost control
  • Provide commercial advice and reporting to the senior team
  • Ensure compliance with contractual terms and industry standards

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor (minimum 2+ years preferred)
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Strong knowledge of construction contracts
  • Excellent analytical, numerical, and communication skills
  • Proficiency with cost management and estimating software
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
