E‑ACT Ilminster Primary Academy is seeking a motivated and relationship‑driven Family Support Worker to join our supportive team. This role is key to strengthening the vital link between home and school, working closely with families to promote engagement, improve attendance, and ensure every child has the support they need to succeed.
Key responsibilities:
Build strong, positive relationships with pupils, families, and the wider school community.
Support attendance by identifying barriers, conducting home visits, and implementing strategies to improve punctuality and engagement.
Work closely with pastoral, safeguarding, and teaching staff to ensure coordinated support for children and families.
Provide guidance, signposting, and early intervention to families needing additional help.
Pay range: SCP28 - 31 - £36,201.13 - £38,622.73 - FTE: £39,152.00 - £41,771.00 - 37 hours per week, 41 weeks per year
Qualifications and Skills:
5 GCSEs including Maths & English
Experience supporting children and families, ideally within a school, early years, or community setting
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to handle sensitive information professionally
Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with parents, carers, and vulnerable families
Empathy, resilience, and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations
