Desian Education are proud to be working in partnership with a Wigan-based SEN primary school are they are looking to appoint a number of dedicated and reliable teaching assistants for long-term full-time contract. This school supports pupils with SEMH (social, emotional, mental health) some of whom may be children in care with significant trauma.
Your new role
As a teaching assistant within this school, you will play a pivotal role in the education and emotional development of all pupils. You will take a trauma-informed approach to support as to ensure that each pupils emotional and developmental needs are not only met but at the heart of all operations. Due to the needs of pupils they will at times present complex behavioural needs, this will not be a personal attack but a cry out for help. To support the development of your pupils, you will:
- Implement an array of positive behaviour strategies with a focus on de-escalation and regulation
- Use trauma-informed processes
- Accurately record pupil progress and learning journeys
What you need to succeed
- Full “Right to Work” in the UK
- Be willing to undergo an Enhanced Children’s DBS check
- Have experience supporting SEN (SEMH is advantageous)
