Your new company
Desian Education are proud to be working in collaboration with a Wigan based primary school that scored “Good” in all areas of Ofsted as they require an experienced and reliable teaching assistant for a long-term full-time temporary contract. This role will be starting on 20/04/2026, will last the remainder of the academic year with a permanent appointment being considered for the new academic year for the right individual.
Your new role
As a teaching assistant within this school you will be joining an experienced and supportive KS2 cohort, working collaboratively with a year 4 class teacher to promote the engagement and learning of your new pupils. The class you will be working is at full capacity with a small group with individual ECHP’s with varying levels of SEMH. You will lead on 1:1 support, delivering a trauma-informed curriculum and tailoring your approach to best suit individual emotional & attainment needs as well as personalities, you will:
- Delivering well-being and mindfulness sessions to boost confidence and self-esteem
- Support with ELSA interventions
- Use extensive positive reinforcement and strategies to promote engagement
- Regularly liaise with the SENCO on pupil progress, further requirements and key milestones
What you need to succeed
- Full “Right to Work” in the UK
- Be willing to undergo an Enhanced Children’s DBS check
- Have experience working with SEMH and/or behavioural needs
- Experience supporting trauma
- Be at least NVQ Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent qualified
