Carbon60 is looking to recruit a Mechanical Craftsperson to work for a leading Medical Facility Management company based in Birmingham.
ROLE: Mechanical Craftsperson (Water Systems)
JOB TYPE: 11 Months Contract
LOCATION: Birmingham, B15
HOURS: Monday - Friday 08:00 am to 04:00 pm
THE ROLE:
- We are seeking a Mechanical Craftsperson (Water Systems) to deliver planned preventive maintenance (PPM), testing, and reactive maintenance across water systems within a healthcare estate.
- The role is critical in ensuring the safe, compliant, and continuous operation of water infrastructure across Acute, Retained Estate, and Mental Health facilities.
- You will be responsible for water hygiene tasks including temperature monitoring, TMV servicing, disinfection, and system maintenance, while maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and KPIs.
- This role requires flexibility, the ability to work independently from technical specifications, and responsiveness to operational demands and emergencies.
THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE:
- The ideal candidate will be a proactive and reliable mechanical/plumbing professional with strong experience in water systems maintenance and compliance.
- You will be confident working independently, interpreting technical documentation, and managing both planned and reactive workloads.
- You will have a solid understanding of water hygiene, including Legionella control and TMV servicing, and be comfortable working in a regulated environment with strict health and safety standards.
- Strong attention to detail, record-keeping skills, and the ability to adapt to changing priorities are essential.
- Experience within healthcare or similar environments, along with familiarity with CAFM systems such as Maximo, will be highly advantageous.
ESSENTIAL
- NVQ or City & Guilds Level 2 in Heating, Ventilation, or Plumbing
- Proven experience in water systems maintenance, testing, and PPM activities
- Knowledge of Legionella control, TMVs, and water hygiene practices
- Understanding of ACoP L8 and HTM04-01 guidelines
- Familiarity with Health & Safety regulations and safe working practices
- Ability to work independently and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Experience maintaining records and using CAFM systems (e.g., Maximo or similar)
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to respond to emergencies
- Willingness to undertake ongoing training and development
