Crynodeb
The Team responds to both internal and external customers.
The vision for the Team is to maintain a leading reputation in terms of risk management and insurance arrangements. Ensuring the Team delivers a good quality service to HCC.
This role supports the Team in handling predominantly liability claims made against the Council but also motor and property claims.
Four other Officers in the Team are responsible for claims handling. Support on insurance policy cover and risk management are provided by five other Team members.
The Team interacts with all areas within the Council, insurers and solicitors. A key part of the role will be dealing with the public.
The risk and insurance teams were brought together in 2016 and many of the Team members have worked for the council for over 20 years. We are continually trying to innovate and implemented new claims handling software in 2024. We are looking to expand on the capabilities of the system to simplify existing processes.
About the role
Dealing with third party property damage claims submitted to the Council by the public; assessing the defences available to the Council and interacting with other services within the Council as well as external customers. To check documentation for any evidence of fraud.
Dealing with personal injury claims submitted to the Council by referring these to insurers. Gather information for the claim to be determined and representing the Council and supporting witnesses when these cases are taken to Court.
