Long Term Futures are seeking a confident and resilient Behaviour Mentor to provide 1:1 and small group support within a specialist SEN secondary school for learners aged 11-16. Students are working towards GCSE qualifications and have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), with needs including Autism (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) challenges.
This long-term, temp-to-perm opportunity is ideal for someone passionate about supporting young people to engage with learning, achieve their GCSE potential, and build the skills needed for further education and future pathways. The role would suit individuals looking to develop a career in education, pastoral care, educational psychology, or therapeutic support.
About the Role
- Provide 1:1 and small-group behaviour and pastoral support
- Support students with emotional regulation, behaviour and engagement
- Work closely with pastoral leads, SEN staff and teaching teams
- Support pupils during lessons, interventions and unstructured times
- Promote positive behaviour, resilience and inclusion across the school
- Foster positive, trusting relationships with pupils
- Implement tailored strategies to manage and de-escalate behaviour
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Hands-on, proactive and energetic approach
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and behaviour management strategies
- Proven experience supporting students with behavioural or pastoral needs
- Experience managing challenging behaviour within SEMH or SEN settings
- Patient, empathetic and committed to long-term impact
