Long Term Futures is seeking a resilient and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to provide support for a Year 4 pupil with behavioural needs in a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Waltham Forest. The role focuses on helping the pupil remain engaged in learning, manage emotions and develop positive behaviour within the classroom.
This position is ideal for someone with experience supporting challenging behaviour or SEMH needs, who can provide structure, consistency and a calm presence in the classroom.
About the Role
Working closely with the class teacher and SENCo, your responsibilities will include:
* Supporting a Year 4 pupil with behavioural and emotional needs
* Providing consistent guidance to help the pupil stay focused and engaged
* Using clear routines, boundaries and positive reinforcement strategies
* Supporting emotional regulation and helping the pupil manage transitions
* Encouraging positive behaviour and social interaction
* Supporting learning during lessons across the KS2 curriculum
* Working collaboratively with staff to implement behaviour strategies
Ideal Candidate Profile
* Experience supporting pupils with challenging behaviour or SEMH needs
* Calm, patient and confident managing behavioural incidents
* Strong communication and relationship-building skills
* Ability to maintain clear expectations and consistent boundaries
* Reliable and committed to a long-term placement
