Professional: To work within the Code of Conduct of the NMC To manage a group of patients during a shift to achieve and maintain a high standard of nursing care To assess plan, implement and evaluate programmes of care for adults ensuring a high standard of nursing practice at all times. To support all members of the team, supervise and teach students, unqualified staff and carers. Educational: To assist in the creation of an environment, for all grades of staff, conductive to learning, assisting Health Care Assistants, Student Nurses and post graduate students by encouragement, support and facilitation to achieve their objectives. Professional Development: To keep abreast of current nursing development, take responsibility for own learning and ensure all training is up to date. Personal: To assist in the creation and maintenance of a good working atmosphere To welcome and introduce new members to the team To assist in co-ordinating the day-to-day duties of nursing colleagues To be familiar with and comply with all statutory regulations and Trust policies Communication: To communicate effectively with patients and visitors and ensure that their needs for information are met. To ensure all patients are involved in decisions about their care and treatment and that they have sufficient information to do this
