The SME will lead on Path IT projects to provide support to the team to ensure day-to-day operations of all IT Pathology systems. Ensuring that all system are managed to provide optimal support and function to the Trust.

The SME will play a pivotal role within the Pathology and IT teams to help deliver Path IT projects such as upgraded lab info system, upgraded lab test order system, upgrades to anticoag system and improving connectivity with systems in the community and across the pathology network.
Responsible for supporting the successful delivery of upgrades to existing systems and supporting the team on the day-to-day operation of IT Pathology systems, including software configuration, maintenance, testing, end-user support, training, data quality, information governance, security, business continuity, vendor management, and service-level monitoring. Act as a secondary line of support, providing guidance and advice to users and managing escalations. Develop and implement escalation processes, liaising with senior management, IT teams, and external suppliers to resolve technical issues. Manage routine and preventative maintenance, updates, bug fixes, and issue logs with vendors to ensure system functionality. Maintain proactive contact with vendor staff to address technical issues promptly. Support resolution of technical enquiries, ensuring problems are managed effectively and solutions communicated to improve user understanding. Provide IT support for systems and analyser interfaces to eliminate single points of failure within the team. Participate in the on-call rota to ensure 24/7 Pathology IT support cover.

The SME will play a pivotal role within the Pathology and IT teams in delivering to deadlines the key pathology IT projects scheduled for 26/27, throughbuilding close working relationships, both internally and externally, with clinical staff, other application managers and support staff along with responsibility for ensuring optimal levels of support and account management from external suppliers.

Responsible for the day-to-day operation of IT Pathology systems, including software, configuration and maintenance, testing, end-user support, training, data quality and analysis, information governance, security, business continuity, vendor management, supporting contract negotiation/renewal and service-level monitoring.

· Provide guidance and advice to end users, acting as a secondary line/escalation point of contact for all users of Pathology systems.

· Responsible for developing, documenting, implementing and adhering to escalation processes to address the resolution of technical issues, liaising with senior management, IT teams, and the external third parties.

· Responsible for managing routine and preventative maintenance, updates, bug fixes and managing issues logs with the vendor to ensure the correct functioning of the system.
• Responsible for setting up and maintaining regular contact with key vendor staff to ensure technical issues are being proactively managed.

· Supporting the resolution of all technical issues and enquiries, ensuring problems are dealt with proactively and the cause and solution are communicated fully to “close the loop” and improve fundamental system understanding amongst the user-base on an on-going basis.
