Location: Janome UK, Unit 1 Southside, Bredbury, Stockport, SK6 2SP

We are now looking for a Trainee Sewing Machine Technician to join our technical team.
This role is ideal for someone with a practical, hands-on mindset who is interested in mechanical engineering and fault finding. Full bespoke training will be provided due to the specialised nature of the industry.
The Role
You will be trained to:
Diagnose, service and repair domestic sewing and embroidery machines
Carry out mechanical fault-finding and basic electrical diagnostics
Strip, rebuild and calibrate mechanical components
Manufacture and machine small components where required
Test and quality-check machines before return to customers
Work closely with retailers and internal teams to support repairs and parts
This is a workshop-based role with structured training and clear progression into a fully qualified mechanical technician.
Training & Progression
Opportunity to progress to Level 3 Advanced Engineering, if not already qualified
Become a fully qualified Mechanical Engineer in a highly specialised field

What We’re Looking For
Essential:
Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in:
Mechanical Engineering
Electrical Engineering
or a similar engineering discipline
A genuine interest in engineering and mechanical systems
Good practical skills and attention to detail
Willingness to learn and develop in a specialised field
Desirable:
Experience with tools and/or machinery
Problem-solving mindset
Strong work ethic and reliability
