Electrician - Job Description

We are currently seeking an experienced Electrician to join our busy and growing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for a wide range of tasks relating to the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical systems and infrastructure. This will include installing electrical wiring and equipment in domestic and commercial environments, diagnosing and resolving electrical faults, carrying out repairs, and ensuring systems operate safely and efficiently.

As this role involves working with potentially hazardous equipment and environments, a strong commitment to health and safety and adherence to all relevant regulations and procedures is essential.

The ideal candidate will have solid experience working with a variety of electrical systems and equipment, alongside strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail. You will have excellent communication skills, be self-motivated, and work effectively both independently and as part of a team. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, is reliable and proactive, and can remain calm and organised when working under pressure. This is a varied and hands-on role that can be both challenging and highly rewarding.


Key Responsibilities

The Electrician will be responsible for, but not limited to:
• Installing, maintaining and repairing electrical systems in accordance with current regulations and company standards.
• Installing electrical wiring, containment systems, consumer units, distribution boards and associated electrical components.
• Carrying out electrical installations within domestic, commercial and industrial properties.
• Diagnosing electrical faults and carrying out effective repairs and remedial work.
• Conducting inspection and testing of electrical installations where required.
• Ensuring all work complies with BS 7671 Wiring Regulations and relevant Building Regulations.
• Completing required documentation, certification and job reports accurately.
• Ensuring all work is completed safely and in line with company health and safety procedures.
• Working collaboratively with other electricians, apprentices and site personnel.
• Maintaining company tools, equipment and vehicles in good working order.
• Providing excellent customer service when working within client premises.
• Supporting apprentices or junior electricians where appropriate.

Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
• Level 3 qualification in Electrical Installation (City & Guilds or equivalent)
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671)
• Full UK driving licence
• Proven experience working as a qualified electrician
Desirable:
• City & Guilds 2391 Inspection and Testing (or equivalent)
• Experience working within domestic and commercial environments
• Experience working within NICEIC-registered companies
• Experience supervising apprentices or junior electricians
Health and Safety
The Electrician must:
• Follow all company health and safety policies and procedures
• Work in accordance with relevant electrical and construction safety regulations
• Use appropriate PPE and ensure safe working practices at all times
• Report any hazards, incidents or unsafe conditions immediately
