The Best Connection are currently recruiting for Maintenance Operatives to work at our well established client based in Leighton Buzzard. The Maintenance Operative specialising in either Electrical or Mechanical will be responsible for delivering proactive and reactive electrical and automation maintenance across the plant to ensure optimal factory performance, reliability, and efficiency.
Maintenance Operative - Working hours
Working on a 3 week rotating shift pattern as follows:
- Week 1 - Monday to Friday 06:00 - 14:00
- Week 2 - Monday to Friday 14:00 - 22:00
- Week 3 - Monday to Thursday 20:00 - 06:00
Maintenance Operative - Pay Rate
- Week 1 - £22.72 per hour
- Week 2 - £25.45 (12% Shift Allowance)

Key Responsibilties
- Promote the highest standards of Health & Safety to ensure a safe working environment
- Collaborate with the Engineering team to implement Company, Factory, and Team plans
- Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM), inspections, servicing, and repairs
- Respond to and resolve reactive maintenance issues as required
- Utilise the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to manage and complete planned maintenance activities
- Accurately record all relevant maintenance data
- Apply Integrated Management System (IMS) tools and techniques to support continuous improvement initiatives across the manufacturing facility
- Implement and sustain world-class 5S standards within the engineering environment
- Build effective working relationships and collaborate across all support functions
- Work closely with the Stores Coordinator and Engineering Planner to optimise factory performance
- Support the Electrical Technician and Process Improvement Engineer to drive operational efficiency
- Contribute to the Engineering Apprenticeship Scheme through coaching and practical training
Qualifications
- Recognised qualification in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum qualification: ONC Level 3 (or equivalent) and above.

- Ability to identify trends and improvement opportunities to enhance machine availability.
- Knowledge of current Health & Safety legislation and best practice within a manufacturing environment.
- Computer literate, including experience with management information systems and Microsoft Office.
- Working knowledge of Cement Technology and Tile Manufacturing.
- Strong fault-finding skills with the ability to diagnose, repair, and provide effective technical solutions.
