We are seeking a committed and adaptable Food Technology Teacher to join a supportive SEN secondary school in Northampton. This is a fantastic opportunity to teach practical, life-focused learning to students with a range of additional needs, including autism, SEMH, communication difficulties, and moderate learning needs.Your role will help pupils develop essential life skills, confidence in the kitchen, independence, and a positive relationship with learning - all within a safe, structured and nurturing environment.

Your Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver practical and theory-based Food Technology lessons, adapted for learners with SEN
- Use scaffolding, chunked tasks, visuals, repetition and modelling to meet individual needs
- Apply supportive behaviour strategies including de-escalation, positive reinforcement and relationship-based approaches
- Create a safe, organised and sensory-friendly classroom/kitchen area
- Track pupil progress, contribute to EHCP targets, annual reviews and reports
- Support students through transitions, emotional regulation and practical activities throughout the school day
What We're Looking For
- QTS or relevant teaching qualification (Food Tech, DT, or related subject)
- Experience working with SEN or SEMH learners in a secondary or specialist setting
- Strong understanding of differentiation, visual supports and structured teaching approaches
- Calm, patient and resilient character with a positive attitude
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Enhanced DBS, or willingness to apply
