About the Role

Our Security Officers are the first point of contact for many people arriving on campus. This is a customer-facing role focused on positive engagement, visibility, and support.

You will be a reassuring presence across our sites, helping to maintain a calm and secure atmosphere where students and staff can learn and work confidently. You will proactively meet and greet, offer guidance, provide signposting to services, and build constructive relationships with the campus community.

At the same time, you will remain vigilant and observant, able to identify unusual behaviour, respond appropriately to emerging issues, and act swiftly and professionally during any security incident or emergency.

Key Responsibilities

· Provide a warm, friendly welcome to students, staff and visitors entering the building.

· Assist with wayfinding and signposting, helping customers access the services they need.

· Maintain a visible and reassuring presence around campus, contributing to a positive environment.

· Monitor activity across College premises, remaining alert to risks, hazards, or safeguarding concerns.

· Respond promptly and proportionately to security incidents, using sound judgement and College procedures.

· Assist in building evacuations, lockdowns, or emergency situations when required.

· Work collaboratively with Estates, Student Services, teaching teams and external partners.

· Complete incident reports and maintain accurate, timely records.

About You

We are looking for individuals who can balance approachability with awareness.

You will bring:

· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

· A calm, confident, and professional manner

· The ability to build trust and positive rapport with young people and adults

· Good observational skills and the ability to stay composed under pressure

· A proactive, problem-solving approach

· Experience in a customer-facing, community-focused or security role (desirable)

· A commitment to safeguarding, inclusivity and supporting a positive student experience
