Our team is growing, and we’re looking for a caring, proactive and compassionate Teaching Assistant specifically for complex autism to join us full-time at our Trowbridge Campus, working with our youngest pupils in EYFS, KS1 and KS2.

Working on a full-time basis, starting this as soon as possible, this role will be based at our Trowbridge Campus supporting EYFS/KS1/KS2 pupils.

Key responsibilities:

• Support the delivery of a high intensity, bespoke offer to learners with complex autism and associated sensory processing needs
• Support children attending water confidence sessions in the onsite hydrotherapy pool or local swimming pool
• Support outdoor learning lessons and community visits to enhance learning and engagement
• Promote positive behaviour, support the developments of learners social and emotional skills and manage anxiety
• To proactively manage sensory ‘diets’, identifying triggers before they lead to dysregulation
• Work collaboratively with colleagues and contribute to a shared team ethos
• Foster an environment rich in sensory experiences and structured exploration that is predictable and safe
• Liaise with teachers, SENCO, inclusion lead and designated safeguarding leads to ensure consistent and high-quality support.
• Support pupils learning
• Use of Total Communication and Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) to give our learners a voice
• Support the development of independence and crucial life skills, including personal care

The ideal candidate:
• Experience of working with autistic learners with complex needs
• Calm, patient and resilient approach with a genuine passion for supporting young autistic learners with complex needs
• Communicate clearly and effectively with pupils, families and professionals
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks
• Imaginative, patient and empathetic in responding to learners needs, being able to ‘read the room’ and spot subtle changes in learners emotional state
• Understand that behaviour is communication and remain calm and supportive during periods of high dysregulation
• Support and value outdoor learning and sensory-based play
• Ability to work well as part of a team, while also using initiative when necessaryTerms:
The successful candidate, will be required to work, 5 days a week, Monday until Friday, 08:50am until 15:25pm.
Term time only, therefore working 39 weeks per year.
Salary:
