St Cuthbert’s Catholic High School is seeking an approachable, caring, and well‑organised Assistant Head of Year to join our strong pastoral team. We are looking for someone with a good understanding of school welfare and pastoral matters, and a genuine desire to support the social and emotional development of young people so they can achieve their full potential.
At St Cuthbert’s, our mission is to form great men, young people shaped by competence, conscience, compassion, and commitment. Assistant Heads of Year play a key role in this work, providing the administrative and organisational support that allows our pastoral systems to be both efficient and deeply supportive. This position suits someone who enjoys working as part of a team, approaches challenges with positivity, and understands how strong pastoral care can shape character as well as academic success.
The successful candidate will show a clear commitment to acting in the best interests of every pupil, balancing excellent organisational skills with a warm and empathetic manner. You will join a dedicated pastoral team whose shared aim is to ensure that every pupil receives an outstanding educational experience. Above all, we are looking for someone who believes in helping our boys grow into great men who make a positive difference in the world.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a respected all‑boys Catholic school with a proud history of educational excellence spanning over a century. If you are motivated by the chance to make a meaningful impact and to contribute to a community built on faith, respect, and aspiration, we would warmly welcome your application.
Application forms and further information are available by following the link on our website for submission by 9:00am on Monday 20th April 2026
All applications should be made online via our online recruitment portal. Interviews will be held on a date to be confirmed.
St Cuthbert’s is first and foremost a Catholic school. Applicants are not required to be practising Catholics but are expected to support and promote the school’s Catholic vision, mission, and values.
The Governors of St Cuthbert’s Catholic High School, the Trustees of the Bishop Bewick Trust and the Diocese are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young persons. The successful candidate will be required to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). In accordance with Keeping Children Safe in Education 2022, an online search will be completed for shortlisted candidates.
