We are looking to recruit a highly motivated and flexible Head of Estates to manage the PFI Estate at Royal London Hospital site providing operational maintenance services throughout the Trust and its associated properties and sites.

You will be a positive team member with a can-do attitude with a recognised understanding of the latest Heath Technical Memorandums, conversant with up to date ACOP’s, BS & EN standards & SFG20 Standard Maintenance Specifications as they affect the management of Building Services throughout a frequently complex Health Care environment.

You will be able to demonstrate a clear understanding in the management of statutory compliance as they affect NHS building premises. Areas of compliance would be in water hygiene, electrical systems, asbestos and fire management, Medical Gases and HVAC systems.

Ideally you will have proven managerial specialist skills in maintenance and contractor management with the ability to demonstrate clear experience in the management of PFI contract. You will have excellent communicative skills that can articulate issues and problems to senior management in a meaningful way both to clinical & non-clinical members of staff.

You should be able to demonstrate an understanding of financial management within an NHS setting and be able to provide necessary experience obtained in the control of delegated budgets. This position will require you to participate in the on-call rota which includes out of hours working at our sites.

The post holder’s role is to manage all aspects of operational estates assets and is professionally responsible for the complete management and performance monitoring of Hard FM Services (PFI) across the Royal London Hospital.

The post-holder will have responsibility for all statutory and regulatory compliance including Fire Safety management, Non-Clinical Health & Safety management, Asbestos management, Water Hygiene management including Legionella and Pseudomonas control management, Building, Electrical & Mechanical services (specifically trust wide lead for HVAC monitoring and reporting) including Medical Gas services.

To manage and monitor all contracted out services; particularly managing the performance of the PFI Hard FM Services ensuring compliance with statutory standards and in accordance with the Service Contract Schedules, the agreed monitoring and reporting standards and service KPIs. Including delivery of the sustainability agenda and energy performance.

Maintain effective working relationships across clinical services and corporate divisions within the Trust and external organisations.

To adhere to standing financial instructions and ensure value for money on all tenders and purchases.
