Location: Middleton, Manchester
Contract: Full-Time | Fixed-Term (April 2026 - February 2027)
Salary: MPS / UPS + SEN Allowance

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teacher to join a specialist SEN school in Middleton. This is a full-time maternity cover role starting in April 2026 and running until February 2027.

The successful candidate will support Key Stage 1 pupils and assist across the school, with a focus on delivering tailored learning for students with complex needs.

SEND experience is highly relevant for this opportunity.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan & deliver tailored, differentiated lessons for pupils with complex needs.
• Support students with Autism (ASC), communication difficulties, SEMH, & MLD.
• Adapt curriculum content to meet individual EHCP targets.
• Implement structured, autism-informed behaviour management strategies.
• Assist Key Stage 1 classes and work collaboratively with class teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and support staff.
• Conduct assessments, monitor progress, and write detailed reports.
• Maintain a calm, structured, and inclusive classroom environment.

About You :

Essential :

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or PGCE.
• A genuine interest in SEND education, particularly ASD and SEMH
• Experience teaching in SEND settings, ideally with KS1 pupils.
• Creativity and adaptability when planning lessons for diverse learning needs
• Proven experience supporting pupils with Autism and complex needs.
• Strong understanding of differentiation and EHCP processes.
• Confident in behaviour management within SEN settings.

Desirable :

• Experience in specialist SEN or complex needs provisions.
• Knowledge of autism-specific strategies (visual timetables, structured teaching, sensory support).
• Experience preparing pupils for functional skills, life skills, or alternative accreditation pathways.
