The renowned Ophthalmology Unit at QVH is looking for an experienced and motivated Qualitative & Quantitative Researcher to join our team and play a pivotal role in advancing world‑leading ophthalmic care.

We’re looking for someone who brings:
• Proven experience conducting high‑quality qualitative and quantitative research in clinical settings
• Is educated to a Masters Degree Level or able to demonstrate specialist knowledge in this field
• Strong clinical knowledge relevant to ophthalmology and/or surgical pathways
• Expertise in research design, statistical analysis, and PROM methodology
• A track record of successful research delivery at other organisations and able to demonstrate experience of working in clinical research and specifically complex qualitative analysis
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• A genuine commitment to improving patient experience and outcomes


As a bank Qualitative & Quantitative Researcher, you will take the lead on sophisticated mixed‑methods research within the Ophthalmology Unit. A key component of this role will be conductingin‑depth analysis on quality‑of‑life outcomes for patients undergoing minimally invasive glaucoma surgery, using four validated PROMs administered pre‑ and post‑operatively.

You will bring strong clinical understanding and advanced methodological expertise, allowing you to deliver high‑quality research that informs practice, enhances patient outcomes, and strengthens our evidence base.

We specialise in conditions of the eyes (corneoplastics), hands, head and neck cancer and skin cancer, reconstructive breast surgery, maxillofacial surgery and prosthetics, providing regional and national services in these areas of clinical expertise. Our world-leading clinical teams also treat more common conditions of the eyes, hands, skin, and teeth for the people of East Grinstead and the surrounding areas. What You’ll Do
• Conduct high‑level qualitative and quantitative research within the Corneoplastic Unit
• Perform detailed analysis of quality‑of‑life data collected before and after minimally invasive glaucoma surgery
• Apply validated patient‑reported outcome measures to generate robust insights
• Ensure all research activity is carried out safely, efficiently, and to appropriate quality standards
• Support the delivery of ongoing studies by providing specialist analytical and methodological input
• Promote a culture of research excellence within the Unit, acting as a trusted resource for colleagues
• Build effective working relationships with clinical and administrative teams
• Demonstrate a strong commitment to high‑quality patient care through rigorous research and teamwork
