Personal Assistant (PA) – Supporting a 16-year-old to Access Community Activities
Location: East Ardsley (WF3)
Rate of Pay: £12.40 per hour (Direct Payments rate)
We are looking for a friendly, reliable Personal Assistant to join our small team of PAs who support our daughter to access activities in the community and develop her independence both at home and out and about.
This role is flexible and ad hoc, mainly at weekends and during school holidays. At present she does not usually access evening activities during term time due to fatigue, but this may change in the future.
There may also be opportunities for overnight work through respite support within the home.
Our daughter is a bright, bubbly and determined 16-year-old who loves music, dancing, crafts and spending time with friends. She enjoys getting out into the community — whether that’s shopping, attending accessible sports sessions, going to gigs or taking part in social activities.
She has Cerebral Palsy and is a power wheelchair user, but she is very motivated to be as independent as possible. She also has epilepsy, which is well controlled with medication. She has access to a manual wheelchair if needed.
She is an excellent communicator. Her speech is generally understood by familiar people and she works very hard on her communication skills. She also has a communication aid to support her if needed.
We are looking for someone who will encourage her independence, support her to enjoy life, and have a laugh along the way.
