Principal Engineer (Structures)
12-month initial contract | Outside IR35
Hybrid working, office in Dorset
We're looking for an experienced Chartered Engineer (ICE/IStructE) to support the design, assessment, and delivery of bridge and highway structure projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with scheme preparation, technical assessments, and information gathering.
- Produce or support structural designs and contract documents.
- Liaise with contractors, utilities, and other stakeholders.
- Maintain high standards of Health & Safety, sustainability, and compliance.
Required Experience
- Chartered Engineer + RQF Level 4-7 in a relevant engineering field.
- Strong background in bridge/highway structure design (BS, DMRB, Eurocodes).
- Proficient with FE/Grillage software (e.g., LUSAS, ENCAD).
- Experience delivering and supervising structural projects.
- Able to carry out bridge inspections to IMHS standards.
- Working knowledge of CDM 2015.
- Confident communicator and able to oversee junior team members.
Working Conditions
- Hybrid working with occasional site visits.
- Regular stakeholder communication in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to travel as required.
