Unqualified Teacher - Southampton
Prospero Teaching is looking for confident, proactive Unqualified Teachers to support a variety of secondary and primary schools across Southampton. This role is perfect for individuals who enjoy leading groups, feel comfortable directing a classroom, and want valuable paid experience in education without needing QTS.
You will be the lead adult in the room when the class teacher is absent, delivering pre-planned lesson material, keeping students focused, and maintaining a positive learning atmosphere. This is an excellent route for aspiring teachers, graduates exploring the profession, or anyone used to working with young people in coaching, mentoring, or youth-support roles.
Whether you're seeking full-time consistency or flexible work, this role provides meaningful classroom exposure and the opportunity to build strong behaviour-management and leadership skills.
The Role:
Deliver and supervise pre-planned lessons across a range of subjects
Lead classes independently, ensuring students stay engaged and on task
Manage behaviour and follow school behaviour policies
Support pupils with questions and general classroom needs
Cover a variety of year groups across KS3 and KS4
Provide short-notice or pre-booked cover as required
Maintain a calm, structured, and positive learning environment
Ideal Candidate:
Experience working with young people (coaching, youth work, mentoring, tutoring, etc.)
Confident leading groups and managing behaviour
Adaptable and comfortable delivering a range of subjects
Reliable, enthusiastic, and proactive in the classroom
Strong communication and organisational skills
Graduates and aspiring teachers encouraged to apply

Position: Unqualified Teacher
Location: Southampton
Start: ASAP
Working Pattern: Full-time part-time or day-to-day
Pay: Up to £130 per day
Key Stages: KS1-KS4
Experience, Training & Safeguarding:
Experience with children or young people essential
Classroom or youth-work experience preferred
Safeguarding training available if needed
Eligibility:
Right to work in the UK
Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply)
Two references covering experience with young people
