The post holder should be prepared to undertake any other reasonable duties in occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances. Commitments arising in such circumstances are, however, exceptional, and the post holder will not be required to undertake such work for prolonged periods or on a regular basis. All efforts will be made to ensure that work of this nature does not result in continuous hours of duty that would breach the European Working Time Directive. The appointee is also expected to: Actively participate in the departmental teaching programme. Actively participate in audit activities. Pursue continuing medical education in line with Royal College and GMC guidelines, and engage in the Trust appraisal process, which will contribute towards revalidation. Teach and train junior anaesthetists, medical students, nurses, and paramedics. This includes obtaining the appropriate training and accreditation to act as a clinical and educational supervisor. There is a robust appraisal process conducted by the Trust, and the appointee will be able to take advantage of this on an annual basis, which will assist with ongoing professional development, goal setting, and preparation for revalidation.
