To contribute to pre-school autism assessments through structured information gathering, observations (where appropriate), and preparation of documentation to support diagnostic clinicians. To support the autism assessment pathway decision for pre-school children by gathering, collating, and summarising developmental information from parents/carers, early years settings and other professionals where required. To provide families with accurate, up-to-date information, advice, and signposting while their child is awaiting assessment and following assessment outcomes and/or diagnosis. To communicate effectively and sensitively with parents/carers, recognising the emotional impact of the assessment process and ensuring a family-centred approach. To work within clearly defined protocols and care pathways, recognising own scope of practice and seeking guidance from senior clinicians as required. To undertake clinical support work under the supervision of experienced clinicians within the multidisciplinary team, including psychologists, speech and language therapists, nurses, and paediatricians. To be involved with new initiatives to support young children and their families, such as our pilot of iBasis video-feedback. As travel is an integral part of this post, car owner/driver, or suitable alternative transport to enable you to undertake the job is essential.
