A well-established UK manufacturing organisation supplying specialist plastic products is seeking an experienced Quality Control Manager to oversee its Quality Control function.

The UK manufacturer continues to strengthen its operational and quality systems. As part of this development, the organisation is now recruiting a Quality Control Manager to lead quality activities across manufacturing operations.

This role offers an opportunity to supervise the QC team, support continuous improvement initiatives and ensure all products, materials and processes meet the required quality, regulatory and safety standards.

The Quality Control Manager role
This is a leadership position responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operation of the Quality Control department within a manufacturing environment.

You will work closely with operations, engineering and production teams to ensure quality is embedded into processes, while also driving improvements in product performance, manufacturing consistency and defect reduction.

The role also involves managing quality reporting, root-cause investigations and supporting wider quality management strategies.

Key responsibilities
Assist the wider quality leadership team in implementing quality strategies across the business.
Manage and support the development of the Quality Control team.
Provide training and guidance to staff on quality standards and procedures.
Ensure raw materials, components, finished products and traded goods meet required quality standards.
Lead root-cause investigations and implement corrective actions using structured problem-solving techniques.
Manage the Non-Conformance Reporting (NCR) process including defect handling, rework and rejection decisions.
Track and analyse quality KPIs and performance metrics, sharing findings with the operations team.
Maintain strong collaboration with manufacturing and engineering teams to ensure quality is designed into products and processes.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce defects, waste and manufacturing scrap.
Ensure departmental safety standards are maintained through risk assessments and documented procedures.
Support communication with customers regarding quality-related matters.

What we’re looking for
Minimum 3 years’ experience working within a quality function in a manufacturing environment. You could be looking to step into a supervisory or management role for the first time or have team leader experience.
Understanding of ISO 9001 quality management systems.
Technically minded with strong analytical and data-driven decision-making skills.
Confident communicator able to work across production, engineering and management teams.
Ability to investigate quality issues and implement structured corrective actions.
Desirable experience
Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma continuous improvement methodologies.
Experience implementing 5S workplace organisation systems.
Internal quality auditing experience.
Experience using ERP systems such as SAP.
Working to a professional status in quality
