Job Summary
We are seeking a qualified Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist to join our team. You will provide specialist therapeutic support to children and adolescents experiencing emotional or psychological difficulties. The role involves working with a multidisciplinary group of professionals to deliver tailored interventions that promote positive outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
• Conduct specialist psychological assessments using a range of measures, observations and information from parents, carers, schools and local authorities.
• Formulate and support the implementation of therapeutic plans based on individual mental health needs.
• Offer consultations to care providers, educators and parents/guardians, helping them understand the psychological basis of a young person’s presentation.
• Support the delivery of one‑to‑one therapy sessions.
• Undertake reviews with parents/carers and recommend therapeutic approaches and interventions.
• Exercise professional judgment in assessment, formulation, intervention and discharge planning, ensuring clear communication with other professionals.
• Provide guidance on psychological components of risk assessment and management.
• Monitor and evaluate therapeutic progress.
• Maintain accurate, confidential clinical records in line with professional and legal standards.
• Contribute to service development and attend team meetings and supervision.
Qualifications and Skills
• Recognised qualification in a relevant discipline.
• Registration with a professional body (HCPC, BACP, BABCP, UKCP, ACP).
• Experience working with children and young people, ideally within the Child Looked After sector.
• Knowledge of evidence‑based therapeutic approaches.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
