Your new company
A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join a dedicated frontline outreach service supporting individuals who are sleeping rough or engaged in street‑based lifestyles. This role plays a vital part in helping people move away from the streets, access the right support, and build safer, more sustainable futures.

Your new role
You will work directly with people who are rough sleeping or begging, building trust, offering practical support, and connecting them with services that can help them make positive, lasting change. The role requires compassion, resilience and a proactive approach to engaging individuals who may be reluctant or unable to access support.
Your work will focus on:

  • Engaging with rough sleepers and people involved in street‑based activity across a range of locations and times, including early mornings, evenings and severe weather shifts.
  • Providing assertive outreach to individuals with entrenched or complex needs, including those who may initially refuse support.
  • Supporting hospital discharge for homeless individuals by securing safe and appropriate accommodation as quickly as possible.
  • Working closely with drug and alcohol services to ensure people can access treatment and harm‑reduction support.
  • Using recognised approaches such as Motivational Interviewing to help individuals explore their substance use and consider change.
  • Collaborating with mental health services to ensure people can access appropriate support for their mental wellbeing.
  • Ensuring individuals have access to ongoing healthcare and essential services.
  • Diverting new rough sleepers where appropriate and supporting people to reconnect with home communities when safe and suitable.
  • Working with local housing teams and supported accommodation providers to maximise housing opportunities.
  • Contributing to case conferences, multi‑agency meetings and coordinated action plans.
  • Maintaining accurate, confidential case records in line with organisational and local authority requirements.
  • Participating in official street counts and ongoing monitoring of rough sleeping activity.
  • Working flexibly across shifts, locations and weather conditions to maximise engagement opportunities.

What you'll need to succeed
We are seeking someone who is:

  • Experienced in working with vulnerable adults, ideally within homelessness, substance misuse, mental health or related fields.
  • Skilled at building rapport with people who may be distrustful of services or facing multiple disadvantages.
  • Confident working independently in the community and making sound decisions in challenging situations.
  • Knowledgeable about safeguarding, risk management and trauma‑informed practice.
  • Able to work collaboratively with a wide range of partners, sharing information appropriately and contributing to joint plans.
  • Organised, resilient and committed to delivering high‑quality support.
  • Willing to work flexible hours, including unsociable shifts, to meet service needs.

What you'll get in return

  • The chance to make a meaningful difference to some of the most vulnerable people in the community.
  • A supportive team environment with ongoing training, supervision and development opportunities.
  • The opportunity to work across a range of services and build strong professional networks.
  • A role where no two days are the same, and where your work directly contributes to improved safety, wellbeing and life chances.
