About Discovery
At Discovery, we're proud to support people across Somerset and Cornwall to live the lives they choose. When you join us, you're not just starting a new job — you're becoming part of a friendly, dedicated team that puts people at the heart of everything we do. You'll have the satisfaction of knowing you're making a real difference every single day, and in return we'll make sure your career can be the best it can be through excellent training, development opportunities and colleague benefits.
There's no such thing as a “typical” Support Worker here. Our teams are made up of people from all backgrounds — from school leavers who want to start a meaningful career, to those looking for a change, to experienced support workers who want to work somewhere that genuinely values the people it supports.
What connects every one of them is a shared motivation: the desire to help people live well, learn new things, and take steps towards greater independence. Our support workers don't see what they do as “just another job” — they see it as a chance to brighten someone's day, champion someone's choices, and be part of moments that matter.
Thanks to our amazing teams, Dimensions Group has been accredited as a Great Place to Work for 2025 — our seventh consecutive year of recognition.
About the role
You'll be joining a supportive, passionate team providing person-centred support to six adults aged between their 30s and 50s. The people you'll be supporting have a range of needs, including profound and multiple disabilities, moderate learning disabilities, epilepsy, PEG feeding, and varied communication styles such as spoken words, personalised signing and their own unique ways of expressing themselves. Five people require support with personal care and daily hygiene routines, including washing, toileting and continence care. Two people are full-time wheelchair users and require hoisting.
Life in this home is active, sociable and varied. You'll be supporting people to enjoy the things they love — from days out, drives in the countryside, horse carriage rides, Longleat trips, visits to Starbucks is a must, trips to watch the latest musicals, opera, 70s TV classics like Rainbow, Disney films and fairy-tale stories. Two gentlemen absolutely love anything with wheels or wings — cars, planes and helicopters.
Three people attend hydrotherapy sessions, so you'll need to feel comfortable supporting in the pool. You'll also be helping people make the most of everyday activities, whether that's going out in all weathers, using public transport, attending social groups, or simply enjoying meaningful time at home.
Shift patterns include:
* 7:00am - 2:30pm
* 2:30pm - 10:00pm
* Middle shift: 10:00am - 6:00pm
* Alternate weekends
About you
You don't need previous experience to become a great Support Worker — what matters most is your attitude. We're looking for people who are patient, positive, kind and genuinely motivated to help others live well. If you're someone who listens, encourages independence, enjoys being part of an active team and isn't afraid of getting stuck in, we'd love to hear from you.
You'll be someone who values dignity, choice and inclusion, and who brings calmness, resilience and creativity to your work — whether that's helping with personal care, supporting communication, joining someone for a favourite activity, or enabling someone to feel safe and confident throughout their day.
