Reception/Year 1 Teacher – Full-time, long-term temporary and ongoing role starting April 2026


This school provides a calm, nurturing, and well‑structured learning environment where pupils benefit from supportive adults, consistent routines, and engaging early learning opportunities. Staff work collaboratively to uphold high expectations, helping children feel safe, motivated, and ready to learn. Pupils respond well to purposeful teaching that promotes independence, communication, and steady development across early years and KS1.

Duties as Reception/Year 1 Teacher:

  • Teach Reception and Year 1 pupils full time from April 2026
  • Deliver engaging lessons using provided planning frameworks when available
  • Support early literacy, numeracy, phonics, and play‑based and structured learning
  • Maintain consistent routines and promote positive behaviour
  • Adapt teaching approaches to support mixed‑age and mixed‑ability learning
  • Monitor progress and provide clear, constructive feedback
  • Work collaboratively with EYFS and KS1 colleagues to maintain strong practice
  • Uphold safeguarding expectations and prioritise pupil welfare

Ideal Reception/Year 1 Teacher:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with EYFS and KS1 experience
  • Confident teaching mixed Reception/Year 1 groups
  • Strong understanding of early childhood development and phonics instruction
  • Effective communication, organisation, and behaviour management
  • Nurturing, proactive, and committed to high‑quality early learning
  • Able to support varied learning needs, including SEND
  • Dedicated to safeguarding and promoting child well‑being
