About the role:
The role supports the Council’s Responsive Maintenance Service by working as part of a skilled team delivering repairs and maintenance to domestic dwellings and related assets. Duties include undertaking a wide range of building, repair and upkeep tasks to ensure properties remain safe, functional and well-maintained. The post may also involve working on Powys Council corporate properties.
About you:
Passion for delivering high-quality maintenance work with a strong understanding of industry standards and good practice.
Skilled in diagnosing property defects and identifying effective repair solutions.
Commitment to safe working practices, with solid awareness of health and safety in building maintenance.
Qualified and trained in carpentry, with additional specialist certifications supporting safe and compliant work.
Strong interpersonal skills, with a genuine interest in working positively with colleagues and the public.
Practical problem-solving ability, using trade skills and sound judgement to select cost-effective repair methods.
What you will do:
Attend reported repairs, assess required work, determine appropriate solutions, order materials and complete repairs, updating the coordinating team accordingly.
Use Powys County Council systems to manage scheduled jobs, record additional works, materials used, and maintain accurate job information.
Carry out all carpentry duties and associated building maintenance tasks, including emergency call-outs, working alone in void properties, and undertaking basic cross-trade activities.
Maintain safe working practices by following health and safety procedures, reporting hazards, managing asbestos-related tasks, completing inductions, and updating risk assessments.
Manage resources responsibly, including van stock, purchase card use, tool calibration, waste disposal, vehicle checks, and supporting apprentices.
Participate in the out-of-hours rota to make safe council properties, communicate effectively with residents and staff.

This position has a requirement for a Standard DBS Check.
