Summary
In relation to this post, The Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS provides a Head & Neck Oncology Leeds and surrounding areas including Mid Yorkshire and York & Harrogate. The Trust is a designated Level 1 Trauma Centre. It is one of the largest NHS Trusts in the UK. Maxillofacial referrals to Leeds Teaching Hospitals have steadily increased across the full range of the specialties activity including orthognathic and craniofacial services. Maintenance and expansion of the service is necessary to cope with this demand. 2. OBJECTIVES OF THE POST 2.1 The post is an appointment for an Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Consultant with the objectives: To carry out maxillofacial clinical services with an emphasis on the management of Head and Neck cancer To contribute to the role of Leeds as a training centre for Oral and Maxillofacial surgery. To improve the efficiency and productivity of the Oral and Maxillofacial surgical services To help further develop Leeds as a centre of excellence for Oral and Maxillofacial surgery To provide support and clinical expertise to the teams based in referring centres To contribute and improve the quality of Undergraduate and Postgraduate training in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery To improve the quality of care and increase the scope for innovation To facilitate and develop research interests in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery To participate in a consultant rota to provide acute in-hour and out-of-hours Oral and Maxillofacial surgery with a particular focus on Head and Neck Cancer
