About Discovery
At Discovery, every day is a chance to make a real difference. Whether you work directly with the people we support or play a vital role behind the scenes, your contribution helps create moments of joy, independence, and genuine connection.
We empower people to live the life they choose—supporting them to grow in confidence, learn new skills, and even discover meaningful employment opportunities.
People with learning disabilities, autistic adults, and their families are at the heart of everything we do. We're passionate about helping every person we support lead the very best life possible.
As part of Dimensions—one of the UK's largest not-for-profit organisations and a leader in best practice for over 40 years—you'll be joining a team with a proud history and an even brighter future. Together, we create places where people feel valued, respected, and truly at home.
Thanks to our amazing teams, Dimensions Group has been accredited as a Great Place to Work for 2025 — our seventh consecutive year of recognition.
About the role
In this vibrant and welcoming home, you'll be supporting nine wonderful people — three gentlemen and six ladies, aged from their 30s to their 80s — each with their own personalities, routines, and ways of communicating. Their support needs include profound and multiple learning disabilities, behaviours that distress, PEG feeding, epilepsy and dysphagia. Personal care is a key part of the role, including bathing, showering, pad changes and supporting people who use wheelchairs and hoists.
No two days are ever the same here. One morning you might be helping someone enjoy the freedom of swimming (yes — you'll need to feel comfortable getting into the pool), and in the afternoon you could be at a garden centre, visiting day services or saying hello to the animals at the zoo, enjoying a pub lunch, or planning the next celebration — Easter, Halloween, birthdays, or even a getaway to Weymouth. At home, there's plenty of joy too: crafts, bowling, cooking, refreshing the garden (green fingers welcome), and spending time with loving families who are very involved.
We offer a mix of shifts — 7am-2:30pm, 2:30pm-10pm, as well as some flexibility for mid-shifts and evening shifts — with alternate weekends.
About you
You'll thrive in this role if you're someone who brings compassion, patience, and genuine warmth into every interaction. The people we support need someone calm, reliable, and able to read the small details — a facial expression, a gesture, or a change in routine — and respond with dignity and understanding.
You don't need previous experience; what matters most is your values. You're the kind of person who celebrates others' achievements, big or small, and finds joy in helping people live life their way. You enjoy being active, getting involved, and saying “yes” to new experiences — whether that's swimming, days out, being creative at home, or bringing enthusiasm to seasonal events.
Above all, you believe that every person deserves independence, connection, and moments of joy — and you're ready to be part of making that happen.
