Duties
Designated Safguarding Lead
Act as Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) for the organisation across all our strands of work
Attend multi-agency meetings
Ensure safeguarding policies, training and procedures are up to date with current practice and embedded
Deliver safeguarding training and guidance to staff and promote a strong safeguarding culture
Ensure young people feel safe, listened to and supported
Lead for Alternative Provision
Quality and Assurance
Behaviour Lead
Establishing a trauma-informed, relational approach tailored to students with diverse and complex needs
Input into budgets/costings, horizon scanning and resources
Contribution to operations alongside the operations manager/assistant manager of AP including staffing and environment
Special Needs Co-ordinator
Build positive relationships with schools, referrers, statutory partners and families
Create and embed support plans alongside key staff to ensure
Attend and contribute to all SEND related meetings for young people
Effectively capture and monitor progress of young people within our Alternative Provision strand
Contribute to our other strands of work to support the needs of young people
Leadership Duties
Line manage staff, providing supervision, coaching and professional development
Support staff to adapt teaching, behaviour strategies and interventions to meet individual needs
Represent the organisation at forums, wider meetings and on a potential wider geographical scale
Establish new partnerships in regards to potential expansion of provision
Contribute, champion and empower our unique model of progression
Teaching and Learning
Monitoring impact
Contribution to the curriculum and our overall organisational impact
Support reflective practice and learning
Be able to support/cover sessions should it be required
Essential Requirements
QTLS
DSL training (or willingness to undertake immediately)
National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCo) or willingness to complete.
Leadership position with an AP or School
Significant experience working with vulnerable children and young people.
Proven experience of safeguarding leadership and multi-agency working.
Experience of supporting pupils with EHCPs and complex needs.
Experience contributing and scrutinising at external forums/meetings for the best outcomes for young people.
Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation and best practice.
Secure understanding of SEND Code of Practice and statutory guidance.
Ability to lead, motivate and support a multidisciplinary team.
Comprehensive knowledge of Management Information Systems for data and safeguarding
Knowledge of local services and signposting options for vulnerable young people
Have an exceptional skill for identifying needs and interests of a young person in order to provide the right person-centred provision required.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
Ability to remain calm, reflective and decisive under pressure.
Strong organisational and case-management skills.
Be able to work have oversight across all our strands of work and understand our progression model.
Ability to build rapport, work collaboratively, and manage relationships with team members and other colleagues.
Understanding of the use of PACE and PRRR as a communication/cultural approach.
Contribution to wider organisational development or outreach.
To act as a role model to new staff and young people alike.
Child-centred, compassionate and values-driven.
Resilient, adaptable and solution-focused.
