About The Role:
As a Senior Social Worker, you will play a key role in supporting the Team Manager with the leadership and development of the team. You will provide professional supervision and guidance to social workers, social care coordinators, apprentices and newly qualified staff, helping to ensure high-quality, strengths-based social work practice across the service.
You will manage a small but complex caseload, undertaking assessments and developing creative care and support plans that enable people to live as independently as possible. You will also contribute to safeguarding processes and work collaboratively with health professionals, voluntary organisations and other partners to deliver joined-up support.
This role offers the opportunity to influence practice, support professional development across the team, and contribute to service improvements that make a real difference to the lives of local residents.
As a Senior Social Worker, you will play a key part in providing professional leadership within the Mental Health Social Care Team.
You will:
Offer supervision and professional support to Social Workers, Social Care Coordinators, apprentices and students.
Manage a small but complex caseload, completing assessments, reviews and care and support planning in line with the Care Act 2014, Mental Health Act 1983 (as amended 2007), Mental Capacity Act 2005, and safeguarding legislation.
Lead safeguarding triage and Section 42 enquiries, ensuring Making Safeguarding Personal is embedded in all practice.
Chair safeguarding and multidisciplinary meetings where required.
Work collaboratively with health partners, voluntary sector organisations, carers and families to deliver holistic, person‑centred support.
Contribute to service development, continuous improvement and a learning culture across Adult Social Care.
About You:
We are looking for someone who is passionate about high-quality social work and supporting others to develop their practice.
You will have:
A professional Social Work qualification
Registration with Social Work England
Significant experience working with adults with complex needs, including mental health
Strong knowledge of relevant legislation including the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act and safeguarding frameworks
Experience of strengths-based practice and multi-agency working
The ability to provide professional supervision, mentoring and leadership to colleagues
Excellent assessment, analytical and communication skills
