Pastoral Lead – Alternative Provision
Are you an experienced pastoral professional who is passionate about supporting young people who face barriers to education? Do you have the resilience and skills needed to work with students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and challenging behaviours? This alternative provision in Birmingham is looking to appoint a committed Pastoral Lead to support students and help them re-engage with education in a safe and structured environment for the reminder of the academic year.

As a Pastoral Lead, you will play a key role in supporting students’ emotional wellbeing, behaviour and engagement with learning. You will work closely with teaching staff and leadership to implement behaviour strategies, provide mentoring and ensure that students receive the guidance and support they need to succeed. This role requires a confident professional with previous experience supporting young people with challenging behaviours and SEMH needs, along with a strong understanding of safeguarding and behaviour management.

Job Role:

- Leading pastoral support for students with SEMH needs and challenging behaviours
- Mentoring students and supporting them to re-engage with education
- Implementing behaviour management strategies across the provision
- Supporting students’ emotional wellbeing and personal development
- Building positive relationships with students to encourage trust and engagement
- Working closely with teaching staff, families and external agencies
- Monitoring behaviour, attendance and pastoral progress
- Ensuring safeguarding procedures are followed and promoting student safety
