1:1 Learning Support Assistant – Reception (Autism & Early Communication)Join our warm and supportive team to provide 1:1 support for a Reception child with autism who is developing early communication skills. We are looking for a compassionate, committed and enthusiastic LSA who can use visuals and a child‑centred approach to help them thrive. The role will involve supporting the child 1:1, alongside an established team in our small group SEND provision, Shooting Stars.About the role This is a fixed-term, part-time role (17.5 hours):Wednesday 11am - 3.30pm Thursday and Friday 8.30am - 3.30pm You will work closely with the class teacher, other inclusion LSAs, SENDCo and external professionals to support the child’s learning, communication and well‑being. Your role will include:Building a positive, trusting relationship with the child and parentSupporting communication through visuals, gesture, modelling and a total communication approachHelping the child engage in play, routines and learning activitiesSupporting social interaction, emotional regulation and sensory needsSupporting the child's self-care Implementing provision and strategies from the child’s EHCP to support progress towards targets About youWe’re looking for someone who is:Warm, patient and child‑centredExperienced in supporting children with autism or communication needsAble to use visuals and other non‑verbal communication approachesCalm, consistent and flexibleA team player who works well with staff and external professionalsExperience of EYFS, Makaton or sensory‑based approaches is desirable What we offerA friendly, supportive and skilled teamA nurturing school with strong values and inclusive practiceOpportunities for professional development in SEND, communication and autismA chance to make a genuine difference to a child’s school experience
