A welcomingprimary school in Clifton is seeking a committed SEN Teaching Assistant tosupport a Year 2 class with a strong focus on phonics and early literacy. Thisrole is ideal for someone with solid SEN experience who can deliver structuredphonics support and help pupils access learning with confidence.

Role Overview

  • Deliver targeted phonics support (including small‑group and 1:1 sessions)
  • Provide tailored assistance for pupils with additional needs within the Y2 classroom
  • Support literacy development using structured, consistent approaches
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement personalised strategies
  • Encourage engagement, focus, and positive learning routines
  • Assist with classroom organisation, transitions, and curriculum support


Candidate Profile

  • Previous SEN experience essential
  • Confident delivering or supporting phonics teaching (Read Write Inc., Little Wandle, Letters & Sounds, etc.)
  • Calm, adaptable and patient approach
  • Strong communication and behaviour‑support skills
  • Level 2/3 TA qualification advantageous
  • Knowledge of early literacy interventions highly beneficial

SEN training particularly valued:

  • Understanding Autism
  • ADHD Awareness
  • Team Teach / De‑escalation
  • Trauma‑Informed Practice
  • Communication‑based training (BSL, PECs, etc.)
  • Makaton (highly desirable)
