A welcomingprimary school in Clifton is seeking a committed SEN Teaching Assistant tosupport a Year 2 class with a strong focus on phonics and early literacy. Thisrole is ideal for someone with solid SEN experience who can deliver structuredphonics support and help pupils access learning with confidence.
Role Overview
- Deliver targeted phonics support (including small‑group and 1:1 sessions)
- Provide tailored assistance for pupils with additional needs within the Y2 classroom
- Support literacy development using structured, consistent approaches
- Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement personalised strategies
- Encourage engagement, focus, and positive learning routines
- Assist with classroom organisation, transitions, and curriculum support
Candidate Profile
- Previous SEN experience essential
- Confident delivering or supporting phonics teaching (Read Write Inc., Little Wandle, Letters & Sounds, etc.)
- Calm, adaptable and patient approach
- Strong communication and behaviour‑support skills
- Level 2/3 TA qualification advantageous
- Knowledge of early literacy interventions highly beneficial
SEN training particularly valued:
- Understanding Autism
- ADHD Awareness
- Team Teach / De‑escalation
- Trauma‑Informed Practice
- Communication‑based training (BSL, PECs, etc.)
- Makaton (highly desirable)
