Sexual Health Adviser

Fixed Term - 12 months. Band -6, Part Time - 20.50 hours per week

We are looking for a dedicated Sexual Health Adviser with a focus on supporting patients through our BBV testing program, ensuring confirmatory testing and partner notification. This involves:
• Providing support and education for clients diagnosed with sexually transmitted infections, including HIV.
• Leading pre- and post-test discussions for HIV.
• Ensuring a smooth transition from GUM to HIV services for newly diagnosed patients.
• Managing specific projects alongside the lead sexual health advisor.
• Delivering targeted prevention, education, and support for young and vulnerable individuals.
• Collaborating with key services, including Sexual Health & HIV teams, Emergency Departments, Primary Care, Safeguarding, and outreach organisations.

Interview Date - TBC
• Provide support, information and health education for clients diagnosed with HIV & sexually transmitted infections, with onward referral as required.
• Support patients with inconclusive HIV results until resolution.
• Provide effective partner notification (PN) in order to fulfil a public health role by securing the attendance and treatment outcomes of contacts.
• To liaise with other GUM/HIV clinics nationally to facilitate partner notification.
• To independently manage own caseload, including safeguarding referrals and more challenging Provider Referral PN in HIV.
To engage with clients specifically around risk reduction and behaviour change, using evidenced based tools such as Motivational Interviewing.
• Provide comprehensive risk assessment of patients in crisis and make onwards referrals to appropriate specialist services e.g. Psychology/Psychiatry & Substance Misuse services
• Results Management and Recalls in order to secure attendance of patients requiring treatment or other essential follow up
