The Opportunity

Our client is a growing specialist engineering business with roots dating back to the 1960s. Following restructuring and relocation in 2022, the company is expanding its product range and workshop capability.

They’re looking for a hands-on Mechanical / Electromechanical Rebuild & Refurbishment Engineer to join their small workshop team (5 people).

• Repair small motors and gearboxes as required

• Manufacturing spindles:

• Precision-built work carried out at a steady, methodical pace

• Maintaining and overhauling spindles
• Building and assembling new mechanical products
• Repairing, servicing, and refurbishing customer equipment
• Mechanical fault-finding and rebuild work
• Basic electrical tasks: motor wiring, testing, three-phase awareness

About You

Our client is open-minded about background. Direct spindle or linear bearing experience is advantageous but not essential.

• Experience with rotating equipment, motors, gearboxes, or similar precision assemblies
• Background in MRO, repair, service, or workshop environments

Electrical & IT Skills

• Basic electrical capability (not panel wiring work)
• Ability to carry out basic resistance tests (can be taught)
• Some simple electrical connections are required
• Soldering ability is essential (joining cables, not circuit boards) – must already have soldering experience
• Electrical familiarity (three-phase motors, basic wiring/testing; drives/inverters beneficial)

• Meticulous and takes pride in quality work
• Happy to “muck in” and work as part of a team
• Able to use own initiative and up for a challenge

What’s On Offer

• 25 days annual leave + statutory holidays
• Pension scheme (5% employer contribution, 3% employee contribution)
