About the Role
We are seeking a reliable, professional, and proactive Security Officer to join our team at a vocational college in Bury, Manchester. The successful candidate will contribute to maintaining a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment for students, staff, and visitors.
This role requires a strong presence on site, excellent interpersonal skills, and a commitment to safeguarding young people and vulnerable adults. You will work as part of an established on-site security team, taking direction from the on-site Supervisor and acting as an ambassador for safety, professionalism, and positive engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Provide a visible and approachable security presence across the college campus.
Monitor for suspicious activity, unauthorised access, or behaviours of concern, taking proactive steps to address issues in line with college procedures.
Support a safe and positive environment for students by maintaining a personable and pastoral‑aware approach, while respecting professional boundaries.
Follow all safeguarding protocols and report concerns promptly.
Assist with access control, visitor management, and incident reporting.
Work effectively within a team and follow instructions from the on-site Supervisor.
Respond to emergencies calmly and professionally.
Ensure compliance with all site and organisational policies.
Excellent time management.
Essential Requirements
Enhanced DBS (EDBS) check, (Child and Adult Workforce level) issued within the last 12 months (or willingness to obtain a new one).
Ability to demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and strong communication skills.
Ability to work various hours as required by the site.
Ability to work well in a team environment.
Original Right to Work documentation must be provided.
Desired (Not Essential)
SIA Door Supervision Licence (preferred, but not mandatory). SG Licence accepted
Previous experience working as a Security Officer within the education sector or a similar environment.
