The Psychology subject area is home to the University's Psychology and Counselling and Psychotherapy provision, delivered at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. As a TEF Gold institution, we are proud to contribute high quality programmes grounded in psychological and behavioural science with a significant focus on applied psychology and professional practice. We host a large accredited provision across several Professional and Statutory Regulatory Bodies (including the BABCP, BACP, BPS, CIEHF, HCPC and NCPS). ,Programmes range from undergraduate underpinnings and initial postgraduate training for some psychological professions, to delivery that supports careers in sectors such as marketing, business, management and leadership (and many more). Furthermore we offer training in a range of therapeutic modalities across the counselling and psychotherapy courses and contribute to the development of the wider psychological workforce through our NHS based commissioned programmes. In Psychology our provision is underpinned by excellent student support to achieve the best possible outcomes for our students and high quality progression opportunities into a range of careers. Our delivery is further underpinned by high quality scientific research and scholarly activity, with industry informed and based research informing and leading the development of curriculum to ensure programmes are meeting the needs of employers to foster the success of our graduates from across the subject.
About the Role
We are excited to be able to advertise this role for a HCPC registered Forensic Psychologist who will work alongside our innovative and growing Forensic Psychology team including Chartered Psychologists and HCPC registered Forensic Psychologists. Our team are at the forefront of influencing the next generation of forensic psychology students, researchers and practitioners. Specifically the role includes delivery of teaching and supervision of trainees on our HCPC approved Postgraduate Diploma in Forensic Psychology Practice, which was the first fully online forensic psychology training programme in the UK. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to the research profile of the Psychology Subject area, including applied forensic psychology research as well as that being undertaken in a range of areas of psychology.
As we grow our forensic psychology provision, this role will include working with the programme lead, senior academics and the wider teaching team to ensure continuation of excellent student experience and outcomes. We are passionate about inspiring and empowering our graduates in their future careers in forensic psychology practice, academia or other progression routes.
The Psychology subject area has an active research agenda, and the role holder will be expected to engage with and support financially sustainable research and/or other appropriate academic activity predominantly through research work undertaken with trainees, although there may be other opportunities to engage in the wider research agenda. The PG Diploma in Forensic Psychology is an online programme and so the majority of this role will be online. However there may be opportunities to support our MSc Forensic Psychology programme, which is delivered both campus and online. There is currently no requirement for line management in this role. This is an hourly paid position which may be attractive to candidates who wish to continue practice based work and develop their academic practice alongside this.
Actual hours and days will be described in a ‘Schedule of Work’.
Salary range from £16.51 - £41.29 per hour. The lower rate is for non-teaching scheduled work, whereas the higher rate is an enhanced rate for teaching and additional duties/meetings. Your actual hourly rate is £16.51 per hour. The rate of £41.29 includes 1 hour of teaching time and 1.5 hours of prep/marking/admin.
About You
We are seeking a HCPC registered Practitioner Psychologist (forensic domain) to join our team and support our practitioner forensic psychology training programme. We would welcome applications from candidates who hold HCPC registration for Forensic Psychology and who hold experience of teaching / training and experience of relevant transferable skills in these areas from beyond higher education. The candidate should also have experience of undertaking research, and be passionate about supporting the development and growth of evidence in their field. Excellence in communication, team and collaborative working are essential, both internally and externally.
