TEACHER OF FOOD TECHNOLOGY

The Heathland School is an 11-18 oversubscribed school with over 1800 students on roll and a large (500+) Sixth Form.
At the heart of our ethos is a ‘Commitment to Excellence’. We have always set high standards for achievement in an environment where students demonstrate courtesy, self-discipline and respect for each other.
A qualified teacher is required for September 2026 to join a supportive and highly successful Design Technology department.
Food Technology is a popular GCSE option - we use the AQA specification.
1. To prepare and deliver quality lessons for a timetable agreed with the Head of Department
2. To fulfil the teacher standards and carry out any statutory duties required of a teacher
3. To undergo in-service training to keep abreast of developments in school and nationally
4. To assess and mark pupils’ work regularly and provide accurate reports as scheduled in the School Calendar
5. To follow the school’s and department’s policies and Key Procedures
6. To attend school meetings and department briefing
7. To attend parents’ evenings as scheduled in the School Calendar
8. To carry out the duties of a pastoral tutor (or attached member of staff) within a Year Team
9. To be responsible for the environment of a classroom including good displays
10. To contribute to the department or school extra-curricular programme by assisting/organising a club and attending school events
11. A commitment to uphold our core values: Respect, Kindness, Aspiration, Dedication and Discipline
12. To follow all safeguarding and data protection procedures and complete training as required
