Consultant Clinical Scientist - Radiotherapy Physics

We are looking to recruit an experienced radiotherapy physicist and clinical leader, who will take specific responsibility for the brachytherapy physics activities within the section.

The main role of this post is to provide consultant clinical scientist level leadership to one or more major areas within the Radiotherapy Physics section as follows, and to provide specialist scientific and managerial support to the work of the whole section at an advanced level:
• Treatment planning (including mould room);
• Brachytherapy physics;
• Dosimetry;
• Computing.

The Guy's Cancer Centre is currently equipped with nine Varian TrueBeam linear accelerators, three GE CT scanners for simulation, a superficial x-ray treatment unit and a HDR and LDR brachytherapy service. The centre serves a population of 1.9 million and typically treats over 4500 patients per year. There is a thriving research and education programme and close links with our university partner, King’s College London.

Clinical Service
• Take routine operational responsibility for, and lead on delivering a high quality clinical, scientific and technical service, within the post holder’s specified area(s) of Radiotherapy Physics.
• Direct and manage the work of staff in the post holder’s specified area(s) of work to achieve objectives and service developments in line with wider Radiotherapy Physics, Departmental or Trust strategies and policies.
