Summary of Job

Term-time only, 32.5 hours per week

The Leader will be answerable to the Cylch Meithrin’s Management Committee for discharging the following duties:

• to review, monitor and evaluate the work of every member of staff in the Cylch
• to ensure that the Cylch Meithrin’s guidelines and policies are implemented in every activity by every member of staff
• to ensure that that the Cylch implements the principles and aims of the Foundation Phase in all its activities
• to comply with all the registration regulations of the Care Inspectorate Wales
• to ensure that the Cylch’s room and facilities (including the outdoor space) are attractive and welcoming and comply with all the health and safety requirements
• to ensure that there is sufficient provision of a variety of resources both indoors and outdoors to promote linguistic, mathematical, physical, creative, social etc. skills
• to ensure that learning areas which reflect the Foundation Phase are provided for the children to promote their development and learning
• to ensure that there are specific arrangements for children to benefit from outdoor play, even when the Cylch does not have a designated outdoor play area
• to ensure that there are activities and an adequate supply of resources available which promote the children’s Welsh language development
• to ensure that every staff member promotes the Welsh language at all times in the Cylch
• to give the parents information about the importance of promoting educational continuity through Welsh medium education
• to foster contacts with the local/Welsh-medium primary school / Cylch Ti a Fi / Cymraeg i Blant
• to work as a team to plan the Cylch’s work and activities in the short and long term
• to ensure support for children with additional needs and their families in collaboration with the local Referral Scheme Co-ordinator (if relevant)
• to keep a record of the children’s development including examples of their work
• to give the parents an opportunity to discuss their children’s development
• to attend any training relevant to the post
• to attend the Cylch’s Management Committee and to prepare reports of the Cylch’s activities for presentation
• to undertake any additional duties which are relevant to the post in accordance with the guidelines of the Management Committee, e.g. responsibility for additional needs, first aid, and health and safety
