Desian Education are proud to be supporting an extremely inclusive and well-regarded mainstream primary school in St Helens as they require an experienced and reliable teaching assistant for a full-time temporary contract. This role will be starting after the Easter holidays and will last the remainder of the academic year.
Your new role
As a teaching assistant within this school you will be joining an experienced and supportive KS1 cohort. You will support a pupil in a year 2 class on a 1:1 basis, supporting them throughout the school day and building a strong constructive relationship with them and their parent/guardian. Your pupil has a dual diagnosis of ASD and non-verbal and requires:
- Makaton and PECs to support communication
- Sensory stimuli
- Positive behaviour support
- Personal/intimate care requirements
What you need to succeed
- Full “Right to Work” in the UK
- An Enhanced Children’s DBS screening
- Experience supporting ASD and/or non-verbal
- Experience using PECs and/or Makaton
- An NVQ Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent qualification
