About the School:
Are you a patient, resilient, and nurturing individual with a passion for supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs?
We are working with a welcoming and inclusive SEMH school in Bolton seeking a dedicated Outreach Specialist to join their supportive team. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a genuine impact on pupils who require additional encouragement, stability, and guidance to engage in their education and personal development, both in school and within the wider community.
Please note that, due to the nature of the role and the school's location, candidates will need access to their own vehicle.
Outreach Specialist - Role and Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 support to pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs, both in school and during outreach activities
- Work closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams to support pupils who may struggle to engage in the classroom environment
- Support pupils in developing emotional regulation, resilience, and positive coping strategies
- Assist with reintegration plans for pupils returning to school or transitioning into new settings
- Build positive relationships with pupils, families, and external agencies to support student wellbeing and progress
- Contribute to monitoring pupil progress and communicating updates with staff and families
Outreach Specialist - What We're Looking For:
- Experience working with children or young people with SEMH or behavioural needs (education, care, youth work, or outreach settings)
- A calm, empathetic, and proactive approach when supporting challenging behaviour
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- An understanding of SEMH needs and SEND strategies
- The ability to work independently and adapt support to meet individual needs
- A relevant qualification in support work, youth work, care, or education is desirable but not essential
To Be Eligible You Must:
- Hold the Right to Work in the UK (Essential)
- Hold a valid UK driving licence and have access to your own vehicle
- Have an enhanced child barred list DBS on the update service (or be willing to apply)
- Be able to provide two professional references (child-related preferred)
Please submit your up-to-date CV to be considered. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
Prospero Teaching is acting as an employment business/education recruitment agency for this vacancy. Safeguarding and child protection are at the heart of everything we do - all candidates must undergo the relevant vetting checks before starting work.
