Job title: Preschool Practitioner Contract type: Fixed term until 31/08/2026 Working hours: 35.5 per week Working pattern: Monday, Tuesday and Friday 8.45am- 3.15pm. Wednesday and Thursday 8.45am - 6.00pm Working weeks: 39 weeks per year + 3 additional days Salary: CSET 11 £25,584 FTE per annum. £20,897 prorated
Severn Beach Primary School is looking for a dedicated and energetic Preschool Practitioner to join our Early Years team. This is an exciting opportunity to help realise our shared ambition of delivering a great education for every child within a caring and stimulating environment.
About the role In this role you will be a key part of our Early Years team, ensuring that every child’s learning and developmental needs are met through engaging activities and thoughtful care. You will work closely with the Pre-School Leader to implement individual childcare plans and maintain a welcoming atmosphere for both children and their families. Your core responsibilities will include: Contributing to the planning of activities and participating in community events to maintain a positive profile for the Pre-School. Assisting with the monitoring and evaluation of children’s progress while maintaining accurate records and reports. Working alongside the EYFS team, volunteers, and external agencies to provide the best possible services to our families. Ensuring the setting complies with OFSTED regulations and health and safety policies. Maintaining resources and equipment to ensure the smooth and safe running of our facilities.
About you We are looking for a professional who is deeply committed to the safeguarding and well-being of young people. You should be a flexible team player capable of staying calm and professional in a fast-paced environment. Our ideal candidate possesses: A full and relevant Early Years qualification (Level 3 or higher), with Paediatric First Aid and Food & Hygiene certificates considered highly desirable. Proven experience working in childcare or education (such as a nursery or pre-school), including experience planning activities and working with parents. A comprehensive understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), child development, and Child Protection procedures. Strong communication and organisational skills, basic IT proficiency, and the ability to record detailed observations of children’s progress
